Arum Italicum

Arum Italicum is the garden plant that earns its keep across almost the entire year. In late spring and early summer it produces its architectural greenish-white spathes above dark, silver-veined foliage that has been brightening shaded winter borders since autumn. By late summer the flowers give way to upright spikes of vivid orange-red berries that stand through autumn and into early winter, glowing against the darkening garden. Then the leaves return — marbled, elegant and completely indifferent to cold — and the cycle begins again. Few garden plants provide this much interest across this many seasons, and fewer still do it in the dry, root-filled shade beneath trees where very little else will grow. Dutch-grown and selected by BLOM for the healthy tubers that establish quickly.
