Scilla Siberica

Siberica naturalises with an ease that other spring bulbs would envy. Its vivid cobalt blue star-shaped flowers appear in February to April in broad, cheerful drifts, needing nothing more than good drainage and a little patience from the gardener. Under deciduous trees, in grass, at the base of hedges — scilla finds its way into wherever it is asked to go and, over years, creates the kind of spring carpet that looks entirely natural and requires almost no maintenance to sustain.
